Ethereum Beast Mode: Lean, Mean, ZK-Powered L1
Meet Ethereum’s next evolution: Lean Ethereum, Justin Drake’s plan to flip validators from execution bots into zk-proof verifiers. With proofs in under 12 seconds on ~10 kW provers, the base layer could hit gigagas capacity and ~10 000 TPS—all while dialing up decentralization. Throw in Fossil’s builder–prover split, seconds-level finality and post-quantum signatures, and you’ve got a lean, mean L1.
The roadmap? A four-phase EthProofs rollout to make proofs mandatory, EIP-7938’s thrice-annual gas bumps, and native rollups that blow through L2 gas ceilings. Factor in PBS, data-availability tweaks and lean consensus upgrades, and Ethereum can scale to beast mode without becoming a data-center behemoth.
